Built to work for everyone

Finent is designed to be usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability or assistive technology. This page describes my commitment, the tools available to you, and how to reach me if something isn't working.

Accessibility widget

Finent uses Sienna Accessibility to provide a built-in toolbar of personalisation controls on every page — no account needed, settings saved in your browser.

Look for the button in the bottom-right corner of any page to open the widget.

Text Size

Increase the base font size across the entire site for easier reading.

High Contrast

Strengthens colour contrast to improve text readability for low-vision users.

Pause Animations

Disables animations and transitions, which can cause discomfort for some users.

Dyslexia-Friendly Font

Switches to a font designed to improve readability for users with dyslexia.

Reading Guide

Adds a horizontal line that follows your cursor to help track your place on the page.

Bigger Cursor

Enlarges the mouse cursor to make it easier to track across the screen.

Highlight Links

Makes all hyperlinks more visually distinct to help identify clickable elements.

Text Spacing

Increases letter, word, and line spacing to improve readability for some users.

Settings are saved in your browser for one year and apply across every page — no account required.

My commitment

Accessibility features I've built directly into Finent, independent of the widget.

WCAG 2.1 Level AA target

I aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA throughout the site. This is an ongoing effort, not a one-time certification.

Keyboard navigable

All interactive elements — forms, buttons, navigation, modals — are reachable and operable using only a keyboard. Focus indicators are visible throughout.

Colour contrast

Text and interactive elements are designed to meet or exceed a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against their backgrounds.

Descriptive labels and alt text

Images use descriptive alt attributes, form inputs have associated label elements, and icon-only buttons include aria-label text for screen readers.

Semantic HTML and ARIA

I use semantic HTML5 elements (main, nav, header, footer) alongside ARIA roles and live regions where native HTML is insufficient.

Responsive and zoom-friendly

Layouts reflow correctly at up to 400% browser zoom without loss of content or functionality, and work on screens from small phones to wide desktop monitors.

Respects system motion preferences

When your operating system is set to reduce motion, Finent automatically disables animations and transitions — no manual setting required.

Known limitations

I'm transparent about areas that are still being improved.

Interactive calendar (dashboard) — The payday calendar uses a third-party component (FullCalendar) that has partial keyboard and screen reader support. I'm evaluating improvements to this component.
PDF exports — Exported PDF snapshot reports are not tagged for screen readers. All of the same data is fully accessible within the application itself.

If you run into a barrier not listed here, please let me know — I treat all accessibility reports as high priority.
